Webster County, a small rural county in South West Georgia, was formed on December 16, 1853, from an adjoining portion of Stewart County, Georgia. According to the 2010 Census, the data showed that Webster County has a total of 2,799 and lies in a 209.12 square mile area. It is centrally located in three more prominent cities, each with State Universities and Technical Colleges. The entire Webster County offers some plentiful deer, quail, turkey, and dove hunting experiences and is also scattered with numerous farm ponds that hold bream, bass, and catfish, as well as other species. 

Webster County’s topography fades from rolling hills, valleys, large tracts of pines and hardwoods, and farmlands in the county’s northern part. Agriculture and Forestry are this county’s primary industries, accounting for a large portion of the employment in the county. Webster County Sheriff’s Office 

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is located at 175 Montgomery St, Preston, Georgia, 31824. It consists of 19 sworn Deputies, 3 Civil Clerks, 1 Civil Process Server, 24 Correctional Officers, and Reserve Unit. The Sheriff’s Office provides its citizens with professional law enforcement and court and correctional services. The primary objective of the Webster County Sheriff’s Office is to provide the citizens of Webster County with an optimum level of service. This means that the Sheriff’s Office’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for the residents by reducing both crime and the fear of crime throughout Webster County. Apart from community services, Webster County Sheriff’s Office consists of several divisions. 

Patrol Division 

Sheriff’s deputies at Webster County Sheriff’s Office are always available to serve the citizens. However, the Sheriff often urges them to take additional precautions to reduce potential risk. This may include taking reports by telephone, maintaining a distance of at least six feet when talking to anyone in public if possible, and not allowing the public into their patrol vehicles unless necessary when circumstances allow. Finally, these patrol officers should maintain personal hygiene by practicing regular hand washing and sanitization. 

Concealed Handgun Licensing Division 

The County Sheriff Officers in this division handle the new application for a handgun permit to carry and renew. Often, whether you are applying for a license to carry a handgun or renewing the permit, once you visit the officers in this division, you are directed on how to fill out a form. Some of the requirements to include while filling in are a colored copy of your identification card or Driver’s License, current address, and a local check or money order. Similarly, if you are applying for a permit renewal, you should include all of the above along with a copy of the original permit.
