County Inmate Search

The freedom of information act requires all public institutions to make public information available. This data includes inmate information except those of juvenile offenders under 18. To get data on these inmates, an interested individual must visit the department of juvenile justice. Note that not anyone can access such details. Only suitable people, including the offender’s family, guardians, and victims, can access these details. In some cases, when the inmate has a pending court hearing, associated law enforcement officers can have access to their details.

As of 2022, most incarceration facilities have put their inmate’s information on their websites for the public to access. To find an inmate within the Georgia state, the department of corrections requires one to visit their official website or contact them at 404-656-2345. Alternatively, one can visit their offices at 300 Patrol Road, Forsyth, Georgia.

Finding an Inmate in a County Jail

To find an inmate, one can visit the Tattnall County sheriff’s office and perform an inmate search from the inmate locator found on their website. Alternatively, one can log into the Tattnall County jail website and perform an inmate search. They can also contact the detention facility from the contact details given on the website.

The first step of performing an inmate search is entering your inmate’s full name on the questionnaire provided on the search web. One may start with the first or last name. Moreover, one can add extra specifying details like the inmate’s race, gender, and date of birth to get faster and more efficient results. Upon entering the name, a list of inmates bearing the same initials would appear. From there, one can pick their offender from the pictures generated from the search. Apart from using the inmate’s name, one can use a prisoner’s GDC ID or case number to conduct an offender search. A GDC ID is a figure that an inmate gets upon admission to a detention facility under the Georgia department of corrections.

On the other hand, a case number is a special figure that the judicial system assigns to a case presented before them. The GDC ID and the case number cannot be shared among multiple inmates. Therefore, they generate exact results and are hence more efficient.

Information one expects to find on the inmate’s profile includes the offender’s charges, booking dates, sentence, and whether the inmate qualifies for probation. Other details differ between various correctional facilities.

Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office

The committed individuals working in the sheriff’s office have various roles, including the court division, uniform patrol division, detention, court services, criminal investigation division, and administration division.

Patrol Division

The uniform patrol division is the backbone of the law enforcement responsibility of the sheriff’s office. Patrol deputies are the first responders to all major emergencies, including accidents and crimes. This division is responsible for responding to bark from a dog, a fatal motor vehicle accident, and a homicide scene, among others. They are responsible for assisting victims of these conditions and other types of volatile situations. Moreover, the patrol division is charged with patrolling all county’s unincorporated areas and may contract local municipalities to cooperate with them to provide their services within the region. Note that whether or not the municipality accepts the contract, the sheriff’s office still has full power over any region in the county.

Criminal Investigation Division (CID)

The CID investigates criminal activities committed within Tattnall County that are reported to the Uniform patrol division by victims or witnesses. The CID investigates crimes that include homicides, sexual assault, property crimes, burglaries, theft, forgery, and fraud, among others. Detectives obtain evidence, conduct interviews with victims or witnesses, determine suspects for a crime, and examine cases for prosecution. Furthermore, detectives evaluate crime trends and recover stolen items.

Apart from law enhancement, the sheriff’s office is an active partner with the Georgia state sheriff’s association and Georgia youth homes. Note that a sheriff is elected every four years, and this office is accountable for its constitutional service to citizens. Contact Tattnall County sheriff’s office at 912-557-6777.
