About Rockdale County

Rockdale County was founded on October 18, 1870, after the legislature passed a bill to create a new county from Newton and Henry counties. Rockdale is Georgia’s 133rd county and the second smallest county after Clarke County. The county occupies an area of 132 square miles bordering Henry and DeKalb counties on the west, Newton on the south, and Gwinnett and Walton on the north. In 2010 Rockdale had a population of 85,215, 45.8% were African Americans, and 40.9% were white. Conyers is the largest city in Rockdale and also the county seat. The city was named for Dr. W. D. Conyers, a banker who purchased and sold the land on which the city was built.

Rockdale County is governed by a board of commissioners made up of four members. The commissioners are elected through parties to serve a term of four years. The commissioners are in charge of monitoring all county-administered departments except those managed by elected individuals.

County Inmate Search

Inmate Search Using the Rockdale Inmate Lookup

The Rockdale inmate lookup on the sheriff’s website has all the inmate records in the county jail. The inmate lookup has two sections used to search inmate records. The first section allows you to use the defendant’s name, while the second allows you to search using the booking number. When searching using the defendant’s name, the inmate lookup requires you to input the inmate’s first name, last name, middle name, or date of birth. You can use the first or last name, but inputting all the details will give more refined results.

The second section requires you to know the inmate booking number. The number is provided at the police station after an offender has been charged with a crime. You can also use the booking date or release date in this section.

Inmate Search Using The DOC Inmate Locator

Georgia Department of Correction also has records of all inmates incarcerated in the county and state facilities. For the convenience of the public, the DOC makes these records available on its website. Information on inmates changes quickly, and the DOC does not guarantee the accuracy and completeness of the information on its website. Anyone who obtains information from the site has a responsibility to verify the information with The Inmate Records and Information at P.O. Box 1529, Forsyth, GA 31029.

The search options include the inmate’s last name, first name, gender, race, age, and most recent institution. The information provided on each inmate includes mugshots, height, weight, race, hair and eye color, charges, sentence, release dates, and GDC ID number.

Inmate Search Using VINE Link

VINE stands for victim information and notification every day. VINE uses an interface with the Rockdale county jail that allows VINE to access information when an entry is made within minutes. VINE then sends notifications to all its registered members on the changes in the inmate’s status. To register for the text or email notification, visit VINE online and register for the service. Victims can stay up to date with the changes that might occur, such as inmate release, escape, release on probation, or parole.
