Oglethorpe County is a county found in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The county is included in the Athens-Clarke County, GA, Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Atlanta-Athens-Clarke County-Sandy Springs, GA, Combined Statistical area. The county was founded on December 19, 1975, and named after James Oglethorpe, the founder of Georgia and General. In addition, Oglethorpe County is one of the largest counties in Northeastern. The documents processed by the division include divorce, child support, adoption, garnishments, and subpoenas. In addition, the division executes orders of protection, court orders, warrants, writs of possessions, and levies. The division’s duties require a deputy to seize and later auction off the property with a judgment from the courts.
