Detention Center 

The detention center is in charge of the care, custody, and control of inmates, protection of offenders’ rights, and the delivery of inmate programs and health care services. The administrative support and detention operations sections are essential to the divisions’ day-to-day operations, such as housing unit, classification, release, kitchen, inmate’s property, laundry, bonding, inmate commissary, data entry, accounting, records retention, visitation, and transport control. In addition, the detention center ensures inmates acquire various programs such as GED, Alcoholics Anonymous and Fatherhood, and Brotherhood and Motherhood programs. 

Court Services Unit 

The court services unit is in charge of fulfilling the sheriff’s constitutional responsibility to offer comprehensive law enforcement and security services to the courts of Newton County. Special Investigations Unit
