Liberty County is located in the state of Georgia next to Long, Bryan, Evans, Tattnall, and Chatham counties. It was established in 1777 and got its name from the American Ideal of liberty. By then, the Georgia national assembly declared Sunberry as Liberty County headquarters. Later in 1797, the group moved the county seat to Riceboro before transferring it to Hinesville in 1837.
