Lee County is situated in Georgia State, neighboring Sumter, Crisp, Worth, Dougherty, and Terrel County. County Inmate Search

All public agencies in the US must make all public information available to the public as per the freedom of information act. Therefore, various correctional facilities under the Georgia department of corrections make inmate information available through jail rosters. Note that information on juvenile inmates under 18 years can’t be accessed like those of regular offenders. To get their details, one must contact the department of juvenile justice for data concerning the offenders. In addition, if one wants to get details on Lee County sex offenders, they can visit the Georgia sex offender registry at the Georgia bureau of investigation.

As of 2022, most detention facilities have put their inmate information on their websites in the inmate search section. Each inmate’s record contains their details, including the following:

  • Inmate’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Address
  • Race
  • Booking date
  • Court date

One can contact the facility’s number, which is often available on the jail’s website. For the case of Lee County jail, one can contact them at 229-759-3328 for inquiries concerning inmate information. In addition, the facility offers a free mobile app that one can download at the google play store or apple store. These apps provide information regarding inmates currently held at the correctional facility.

Performing an Inmate Search

The first step in finding an inmate using the inmate roster is entering the inmate’s name on the questionnaire given in the inmate search section. One may choose to start with the first or last name, provided the names entered are written as they appear on the inmate’s court documents. Once one enters the name, a list of inmates containing offenders bearing the initials would appear. From there, one can pick their offender from the picture generated upon feeding their initials. Apart from the name, individuals can enter other identifying details, for instance, the age, race, and gender of the sought inmate.

If one does not know where their inmate is detained, they can log into the sheriff’s office website to look for their offender. Alternatively, one can physically visit the sheriff’s office at their address.

Searching using Case Number or GDC ID

Once an inmate is admitted to jail, they get a Georgia department of corrections identification number (GDC ID). This number is specific to its bearer. Therefore, using a GDC ID to locate an inmate is the most appropriate way since it generates specific results. On the other hand, a case number is a figure that the court assigns to a case presented to it. Similar to the GDC ID, a case number generates specific results for a specific offender.
