Laurens County is situated in the central portion of the state of Georgia, US. It was established on 10th December 1807 in parts of Wilkinson and Washington counties. It got its name from Lieutenant Colonel John Laurens, a former American soldier and statesman from South Carolina during the American revolutionary war period. The county is part of the Dublin, Georgia, micropolitan arithmetic area and has its county headquarters in Dublin. As per the 2010 Census, the county has 48,434 people.

County Inmate Search

The freedom of information act requires all government facilities to make all public information available to the citizens. This data includes inmates’ information except for juvenile wrongdoers under 18. Individuals looking for information on such inmates must visit the Department of Juvenile Justice, where they would get directions on how to find those details. Note that not all members of the public can access data on juveniles. Only suitable parties, including the offender’s family, victims, and lawyers, can get them. Moreover, some law enhancement officers can access this data, especially when the offender still has an ongoing court case.

Finding an Inmate in a County Jail

Individuals can locate their inmates by logging into the specific website of the correctional facility where their inmate is detained. For this case, one would log into the Laurens County jail’s official website to perform an inmate search. On the inmate search section, one would find an inmate roster containing all inmates detained in the facility and their additional information, including their full names (as registered in court), dates of birth, address, booking date, nature of crimes, and court dates. Apart from logging into the facility’s website, one can call the jail at 478-252-1522. Alternatively, Laurens County jail offers free mobile applications that one can download at the Google play store or apple store. These apps offer information to the public regarding the currently imprisoned inmates in the institution. Far from the above, one can contact the Laurens County sheriff’s office for details concerning inmate information.

Performing an Inmate Search

To find an inmate, one needs to enter their full names on the questionnaire provided on the specific website. Once they enter a name, either their first or last name, a list of offenders sharing the same initials would appear. From that point, one can just pick their inmate based on the pictures that the search would generate. Moreover, an individual can add extra identifying characteristics, including age, race, and gender, among other details, for faster and more efficient results.

Searching Using a Case Number or GDC ID

A case number is a specific figure that the court assigns to a particular case presented to them. This figure is essential as it can be used to look for an inmate while performing an inmate search. When one enters a Case number, they will get specific results related to the bearer of the case number. On the other hand, a Georgia State Department of Corrections Identification Number is a figure that an inmate gets upon incarceration in the state. Similar to the case number, GDC ID generates specific results and is thus the most appropriate method to use when performing an inmate search.

County Sheriff’s Office

Laurens County sheriff’s office is at 511 Southern Pines Road, Dublin, 31021, Georgia. It is a law enhancement agency under Sheriff Larry Dean’s leadership. The office is charged with providing safety and security services to citizens and their property in Laurens County. Moreover, the office manages detention facilities and is in charge of storing records of all offenders in the county. To manage all these roles, the office has several departments, each specialized for a specific role. Some of the office departments are discussed below:

Criminal Investigations Division

The criminal investigation division (CID) is a team of highly trained and specialized detectives who are obliged to look into felony and misdemeanor criminal practices in the county. Captain Robbie Toney currently leads the team and assigns cases that require follow-up to particular detectives in his team. The detective would then contact the victim to plan for an investigation on the matter. The CID cooperates with local and state agencies using available resources to solve the crimes. Once the team solves a case, they would channel the results to the district lawyer for prosecution in the judicial system. One can contact the Laurens County CID at 478-272-1522.

Uniformed Patrol Division

The patrol division, under Captain Brian Scarborough, is charged with providing primary law enforcement services to citizens in Laurens County. Lieutenant Justin Shirley helps the captain in commanding the patrol division. Deputies in this division are responsible for receiving 911 calls, patrolling the streets, and providing visible prevention of crimes in the county.

Courthouse security and School Resource Officers

Captain Brenda Roberson supervises the courthouse security department, which provides safety for superior, juvenile, probate, and magistrate courts held at the Laurens County Courthouse. The team screens people and vehicles entering the court areas for prohibited things like drugs and weapons. School resource officers provide their lawful services to various schools throughout the county. The sheriff’s office has six school resource officers under Captain Chriss Bracewell.

Traffic Unit

The main mission of the traffic unit is to reduce accidents by enforcing traffic policies. It watches about 35 miles of the several state routes and county roads. One can contact Lieutenant Sidney Harrison for any issue concerning the department.
