County Inmate Search

As per the Freedom of Information act, all public agencies must make public records (including inmate information) available. However, information on juvenile offenders is not available to the public but to suitable people, including the inmate’s family, victims, and attorneys.

To find an inmate, one may opt to log into the county sheriff’s office website and enter the inmate search website. Finding an inmate detained in a county detention facility like the Lanier County jail is much easier than when one doesn’t know the correctional facility where the inmate is held. For the case of Lanier County jail, an inmate roster is available on the facility’s official website. Each offender’s profile includes their full name, date of birth, race, address, booking date, charges, court date, court event, document type, and court role. Alternatively, one can contact the jail directly at the contact number provided on the website. Furthermore, the Lanier County jail has an app on the Google play store and apple store, which allows the public to get data on inmates currently held in the correctional facility.

Performing an Inmate Search

The Georgia department of corrections asks interested individuals to contact them at 404-656-4661 or visit the department’s offices at 300 Patrol Road, Forsyth, 31029, Georgia. Alternatively, one can visit their official website to conduct an inmate search.

The first step in conducting an inmate search is to enter the inmate’s full name, starting with either the first or second name. Once you enter the inmate’s name, the website generates a list containing inmates sharing the same initials. From there, one can pick their inmate from the pictures generated. Moreover, for efficiency, one can enter additional specifying details of the offender, including their age, race, or gender.

Searching by Case Number or GDC ID

Once an inmate is imprisoned within Georgia State, they receive a Georgia department of corrections identification number (GDC ID) that multiple people cannot share. One can use this GDC ID to search for an inmate. This method is the most accurate since it generates specific results. On the other hand, a case number is a figure that the judicial system assigns to a specific case in court. Similar to the GDC ID, one can use the case number to get specific results.

To find fast and reliable results on sex offenders, one can visit the Georgia Bureau of investigation for the sex offender registry for all sexual predators in the county and across Georgia State.

Moreover, the jail division ensures that all county detention facilities, for instance, the Lanier County jail have the best and most humane conditions for their offenders. Furthermore, the division is responsible for transporting inmates to and from courts and even transferring offenders to other correctional facilities.
