Glynn County is situated in the Southeastern section of the U.S state of Georgia. The county was founded in 1777 and named after John Glynn, a member of the British House of Commons who defended the rights of the American Colonies before the American Revolution. Brunswick is its county seat, while the adjacent counties include McIntosh County, Camden County, Brantley County, and Wayne County.  

This county is part of the Brunswick, Georgia, Metropolitan Statistical area. According to the 2010 United States Census, 79629 people, 31774 households, and 21259 families live in this county. As of 2010 the population density was 189.7 inhabitants per square mile (73.2km) and 40716 housing units at an average frequency of 97.0 per square mile (37.5km). The racial makeup of Glynn County was 67.6% White, 26% African American, 1.2% Asian, 0.3% American Indian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 3.0% of other races, and 6.4% made up of Hispanic or Latino. 

According to data taken from the U.S. Census Bureau, Glynn County has a total area of 585 square miles (1529km), where land occupies 420 square miles (1100km) while water takes 165 square miles (430km) (28.3%). The county is home to superfund sites, including the LCP Chemicals Georgia site, the Brunswick Wood Preserving site, the Hercules 009 Landfill site, and the Terry Creek Dredge Spoil site.

Criminal Investigation Division 

The Criminal Investigation division is committed to offering the highest quality investigative services to the citizens of Glynn County. The division is in charge of conducting in-depth inquiries into alleged criminal activity and taking the necessary precautions to bring offenders before court. The cases are assigned depending on workload, the potential for clearance, in-house expertise, and availability of external resources. The division comprises three significant units: Special Investigation Unit (SIU), Major Crimes Unit, Crime Scene, and Property and Evidence Unit. 

Patrol Division 

The Uniformed patrol division is the pillar of the Glynn County police department. The division keeps social order through deterrent presence, enforcement of laws, quick response for calls for service, preliminary investigation of criminal crimes, apprehension of offenders, and enforcement of traffic rules. Moreover, the department maintains a close relationship with all the units of GCPD, including the Airport, K-9, traffic units, and other agencies within Glynn County. In addition, the patrol division responds to and investigates all criminal activities reported or observed, such as sexual assault, disturbance, death, theft, damage to property, fire, mental illness, narcotics, trespassing, and domestic violence. 

Record and Service Unit 

The records section comprises two records Technicians, a programs analyst, a certified police officer, and a police lieutenant. Some of the duties performed by the record and service unit include verification and data entry of incident reports, accident reports, traffic citations, case dispositions, and alarm citations. Other duties include reports conducting particular crime queries of information, receiving all court subpoenas for records information, storing and securing all incoming paperwork and departmental receipt money, and handling any other daily challenges or tasks. In addition, the unit’s objective is to offer personalized, timely service to the citizens of Glynn County and give the public the lasting impression that any challenge, question, concern, or need they might have in contacting the unit is essential. 

Correction Unit 

The correction unit is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety in Glynn County through public policing and managing county jails and inmates. In addition, the correction unit provides the inmate with various programs that help incarcerated inmates gain new skills and help them cope with life after their sentence. 

Emergency Management Unit 

The Glynn County Management unit, through collaboration and cooperation with the government and private industry, develops plans and procedures for both natural and artificial disasters, thereby assisting the citizens in preparing for, answering to, recovering from, and mitigating the impacts of disasters. Some of the catastrophes managed by the emergency unit may include fire, floods, tornadoes, accidents that involve chemical spills, disasters, terrorist attacks, or other events dangerous to individuals or property.
