Fayette County Inmate Search
The sheriff’s office operates a medium-security facility for incarcerating low-misdemeanor adults with less than a year of sentence. This facility, located at 145 Johnson Avenue, Fayetteville, GA 30214, is also used to detain all inmates within the county jurisdiction charged with state and federal law violations which cannot pay bail or are denied by the court.
This facility is the primary destination for all inmates before they can be transferred to other jails, appear before the court, or get released. It also houses a reentry program for state prisoners. In return, when you want to conduct a Fayette Inmate Search, this has to be your first destination. The facility keeps records of all the inmates in its care, and due to the GA Open Records Act, these records are accessible to the public upon request.
The facility maintains a readily available inmate lookup tool that is accessible to the public and updated at various intervals. The database is searchable by the inmate’s name.
Cases where the inmate’s name is not on the Inmate Lookup Tool
Since the roster is updated at different intervals, your inmate’s name may not be available, especially if they have not yet arrived, recently arrived, or been released from the facility. In that case, you have two options made available.
One, you can visit the jail in person; or two, you can contact the jail by phone at 770-716-4720 and provide the inmate’s information. The jail administration will look into their records for an inmate that matches your description. You may opt to collect the documents in person or ask them to mail them to you.
If you cannot find them, they are either transferred to another jail or incarcerated in another county. If such is the case, you can visit the GA Statewide Inmate Search database, which has records of all inmates in the GA prison system.
Registering with GA VINELink
All victims of crime may willingly register with VINELink to get updates on their offender. These updates include release dates, early release, disciplinary records, escapes, and transfers. This is a national resource for all victims, and it is free. You may receive updates via phone, email, or all three.
Sex Offender Registry
The probability of finding your inmate on the Fayette County sex offender registry if they are a sex offender is almost one hundred percent. According to GA laws, all sex offenders must register with their county sheriff’s office. The registry is available on the sheriff’s office website and is searchable by name or geographical location.
