Elbert County Sheriff’s Office

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office is located at 26 W Church St., Elberton, 30635 and is the county’s primary law enforcement agency. The office was established to protect people and property, uphold law and order, and conduct law enforcement operations. It highly values the public’s safety, knowledge, and crime prevention.

It upholds peace and safeguards people’s lives, property, health, and morality. The sheriff believes they are the county jail’s guardians and the just tribunal’s arm and sword.

The good citizens of Elbert County elect the sheriff as their representative for four years in charge of maintaining order and upholding the law. Thus, the sheriff is held directly responsible by the state’s constitution, the US Constitution, laws, and the county’s residents.

Elbert County Inmate Search

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office maintains a medium-security facility located at 26 West Church Street in Elberton, Georgia, 30635. The facility has a 117-bed capacity and an average of 260 bookings each month.

It receives arrestees from all over the county from state, federal, and local law enforcement agencies. Most of the individuals in the jail are those awaiting trial in court because they are denied bail by the court or cannot pay the bail. Others are in the facility awaiting transfer to another county, state, or federal facilities.

The jail administration is mandated to ensure that these inmates arrive in court, be released from jail, transferred to other jails, and rehabilitated as per the court orders and dates. As a result, the jail has to keep records of these individuals in a special register, the jail roster. Here they can keep all information on inmates, including their court records, personal information, criminal records, and physical description.

How can you find an inmate incarcerated in Elbert County?

The first place you need to check if you are interested in finding an inmate in Elbert County is the Elbert County Jail roster available at the sheriff’s office/Detentions Unit. The register is searchable by name as you only need to have the full name of the individual you seek to find. The roster is grouped, so inmates who share the first letter of their name are on the same page. Thus, tracing the name of an inmate on the roster is very simple.

However, sometimes the name of the inmate may lack on the jail roster, especially if they have been recently transferred to the jail, already released, or transferred. This is because the jail administration has to transfer these records to the sheriff and the other inmate’s jail.

In such a case, you can contact the jail if you cannot find the inmate on the roster by phone at 706-283-2040; you can speak with the administration directly to discover if a prisoner you know is housed there. Keep details on the prisoner, including Full Name, Age, Sex, DOB, and ID.
