DeKalb County Inmate Search

All inmates in DeKalb County are housed at the DeKalb County Detention Center located at 4415 Memorial Drive, Decatur, GA 30032. The facility houses inmates from the US Marshals, Georgia State Police, Local police departments, and Homeland Security Agencies. These criminals range from violent offenders with severe crime charges to low misdemeanors such as OUI and disorderly.

These inmates are brought to the jail because the court has denied them bail or they cannot meet the bail demands; thus, they stay in the jail as county guests until their cases can be completed in the county courts. However, you should know that cases could last for months before the final verdict is passed.

Again, the facility houses inmates sentenced to up to a year for low misdemeanors in jail.

How to Find an inmate in DeKalb County

DeKalb County jail offers an online inmate lookup tool, unlike many county jails. On this database, you can search for an offender by name. This database offers all information regarding the inmate you are searching for, including their arrest records, court proceedings, criminal background, and personal information.

The database is simple and easy to use. You have to input the inmate’s first and last name. However, you can put the middle name, aliases, date of birth/age, and sex to narrow down search results in case there are individuals with similar names on the database.

What if the inmate is not on the DeKalb County Jail Inmate Lookup Database?

The reason the inmate’s information is not available on the database is that;

  • One, the inmate has not yet arrived in the jail.
  • The inmate has not yet completed their booking or orientation process.
  • Three, the inmate is no longer in jail. Either they have been released or transferred.
  • Finally, the court has sealed or expunged the records.

Nonetheless, if they are not on the database, you can contact the jail by phone at 404-298-8145 and request to find an inmate. You will provide all the information possible on the inmate through the phone. The good thing is that you don’t have to know their full name. You can provide their first name, physical appearance, race, sex, age, tattoos, or aliases. All this information will ease searching for the inmate by phone. You can request the record through mail at a fee or collect them in person at the jail.

You can also visit the jail to seek the inmates’ whereabouts.

If you cannot find them, visit the Georgia statewide inmate search database, which is searchable by name and offender ID.
