Situated along the magnificent coastal region of the United States state of Georgia, Bryan County is one of the fastest-growing regions in the state. It was formed on December 19, 1793, from Chatham County by an act of Georgia’s legislature. Bryan County was named for Jonathan Bryan, a key figure during the Revolutionary War and one of the leading colonial settlers in Georgia. Notably, the state transferred land from Effingham County to Bryan County in 1974. This County is part of the Savannah, GA, Metropolitan Statistical Area, and its county seat is Pembroke. The County Courthouse is included on the National Register of Historic Places.  

According to the US Census 2020, Bryan County has a population of 44738. It has a total area of 454 square miles, including 436 square miles as land and 18 square miles as water. Bryan County’s infrastructure flaunts major road highways such as Interstate 95 and Interstate 16 alongside other State Highways.  

Bryan County Sheriff’s Office 

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office is the chief law enforcement agency in Bryan County. It serves the residents of Bryan County by efficiently and professionally maintaining peace, protecting life and property, and providing service to the community pursuant to the laws of the State of Georgia and the United States. More particularly, the functions of the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office include serving as an officer of the Courts to provide safety and security, managing the Bryan County Detention Center, civil processes, subpoenas, and serving criminal warrants.  

This Office currently provides court security for the Superior Court Courtroom, The Magistrate Court, The Juvenile Court of Bryan County, and The State Court. Additionally, it gives the overall safety of the Courthouse. The County Sheriff’s Office usually monitors sex offenders within the County and investigates and pursues the prosecution of offenders in violation of the provided conditions. Apart from handling the courts, the Sheriff’s Office also enforces all laws within the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Bryan County.  

This agency has two main offices located at 95 Sgt. Robert W. Crapse Drive, Pembroke, Georgia 31321 and 1955 Sgt. Michael W. Larson Drive, Richmond Hill, Georgia 31324.

Bryan County Detention Center 

The Bryan County Detention Center is a medium security county jail located at 95 Sgt. Robert W. Crapse Drive PO Box 960, Pembroke, GA, 31321. This facility is responsible for holding offenders from all of Bryan County. It primarily serves detainees awaiting sentence or trial. However, it also houses offenders convicted of misdemeanor offenses, usually serving sentences of less than a year.
