Bibb County is in the central part of the United States state of Georgia. It is geographically located on the fall line, where southern Piedmont and the Coastal Plain meet. The County was formed on December 9, 1822, a year after the Creek Indians surrendered the last of their land in this area. This 55th county of Georgia was created from Monroe, Jones, Houston, and Twiggs Counties portions. Bibb County was named after the first elected governor of Alabama and a Georgia politician, William Wyatt Bibb.
The County’s largest city, Macon, was established in 1823 and serves as the county seat. Several other towns, such as Huguenin Heights and Vineville, originally existed independently in this area, but all were eventually annexed to Macon. Payne City is currently the County’s only other incorporated town.
Bibb County has a population of 157346 as of the 2020 census. It has a total area of 255 square miles.

The records may include sentencing information such as the court in which the case was tried, the class and type of offense, and the location of the correctional facility holding the offender. They may also contain the inmate’s full name, registration number, gender, mugshots, physical descriptions, and race. Most of these inmate records are usually available and open to the public for inspection in compliance with Georgia law and statutes. Some records are kept confidential in the County, for instance, juvenile inmate records.

Searching for information about an offender or locating them is a simple exercise if you know precisely where to look. The first action is to search the facility’s official website online to check if it provides an inmate search tool or an inmate roster. Alternatively, you can locate an inmate using third-party inmate locator sites, usually private-run in partnership with the government. These offer a relatively easier inmate search criterion, only requiring you to provide the inmate’s full name and the facility location.
Sheriff’s Office Facilities
As mentioned above, the County Sheriff’s Office manages and operates the Bibb County Jail and the Detention Center. The Sheriff’s Office website provides numerous inmate search tools to help locate an offender or an individual currently incarcerated in its correctional facilities. The search tools include:
- Inmate Search for offenders in correctional facilities
- BSO Sex Offenders Register Search tool
- GBI Sex Offender Registry
- State Pardons and Paroles website
To perform an offender search, you must provide the offender’s first, middle, and last names and suffixes. It is essential to note that an individual’s current incarceration does not necessarily mean they have been convicted of a crime, as the county jail also houses inmates awaiting trial.
