Barrow County is located in the north-central part of the United States. It is situated in the Piedmont plateau between Atlanta and Athens. It is essential to note that the County’s proximity to major metropolitan areas has substantially caused a profound and rapid change in Barrow County’s demographics. The county seat is Winder. As of the 2020 census, the County’s population was 83505, an increase from the 2010 population of 69367. It was created on July 7, 1914, from Jackson, Walton, and Gwinnett Counties. Barrow County was named for David C. Barrow Jr., the chancellor of the University of Georgia, from 1906 to 1925.
